Hi, I’m Liam.

“I’m here to stand together in creating new views of the world.”

I do that not by being another outside source of what you should be doing, but offering a welcoming into the wholeness of who you are.

How I Can Help

We all want to get somewhere.

The great paradox is that the only way to get there is to

Be here now.

The clients with which I tend to find the most synergy are those who have experienced some level of a history of oppression or “other-ness”.  A foundational element of our relationship is a continual opening to the world, life, and each other - and sharing this perspective seems to be a fundamental component of that attunement.

If there is such a thing as “specialty” in coaching, mine would most aptly be defined as periods of transition.

Some of the openings with which you may find coaching helpful:

  • Deepening sense of identity
  • Embracing the wholeness of life
  • Job/career change
  • Relationship changes
  • Opening / ENM / Polyamory
  • Desire for self discovery & development
  • Lifestyle shifts
  • “Reinvention”
  • “Mid-life crises”
  • Feeling “lost” or directionless

Integral Coaching

“Coaching is not telling people what to do; it’s giving them a chance to examine what they are doing in the light of their intentions.”

- James Flaherty

It’s about working together to attend to your human-being-ness,

an opportunity to build our capacities for supporting and appreciating the wholeness of ourselves, and to deepen our sense of possibilities. Integral coaching is not therapy and it’s not consulting, but another thing entirely.

We start with an invitation to what’s true.

We take the parts of us we’re aware of and the parts of us we’re unaware of and begin to assemble a more whole picture of what it means to be you, continually opening ourselves as we continue to grow.

My Approach

My commitment is to be fully with you in the witnessing of your life.

Within the common bonds we share and the vastness of our differences lay the opportunities for us to discover new ways of viewing the world, orienting to situations, and navigating more helpful paths forward.

Attunement.
(əˈtjuːnmənt)

The reactiveness we have to another person. It is the process by which we form relationships.

I believe everything stems from our relationships with and to other people, and attuning with others allows us to foster an environment of sharing, and collaboration.
Only then can we work together to find opportunities for learning, development, and growth.

Queering the lens

There is certainly opportunity to queer (as a verb) coaching through a continual opening and questioning of norms and binary thinking.

As someone who shares lived experience in the LGBTQIA+ community, I bring with me the intent to be with you in the wholeness of your experience, whatever that may be.
My Queerness most certainly plays a central role in how I relate to my clients, and is one of the ways I can share in this process with you, but it’s never a surrogate for your own uniqueness, lived experience, or truths, and a Queer identity is certainly not a requirement to engage in coaching with me.

Everyone is welcome.

Get To Know Me

Above: Fire Island, 2019

This isn’t a bio, so let’s just get to know each other.

I grew up in the midwest, a product of the 70s, a child of the 80’s, and a teen of the 90’s. The year I “came out” was the peak of AIDS-related deaths in the US, which meant that even with the CIS gender, white, middle class privilege I experienced in parts of my life, I was also thrown into the oppression of being a sexual minority, and the stigma of my identity being synonymous with death.

I’m not here to be another outside source of what you should be doing.

My intention isn’t to move you, but to help create opportunities for you to move yourself.

Engage

What to expect

Commitment
A typical coaching relationship with me is at least six months, but I don’t pretend to know or propose how “long it will take” to do our work. Therefore, I don’t identify an “end date”. This allows us a pace that fosters stillness, the adoption of new practices, and space for exploration.

What I ask is for your openness in exchange for my commitment:
  • an openness to share whole-heartedly,
  • to make space and time in your life for our work, and
  • to trust the process of coaching.

Logistics
  • Remotely via Zoom or
  • Live in-person in the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Most sessions are 50 minutes.

What Integral Coaching is, and is not.

Vs.Therapy
Our coaching sessions are not therapy of the psychological variety. Our intent is not to unpack and process childhood traumas or psychological diagnoses (and I’m happy to share referrals where and when we find overlap). They may, however, serve as therapy in other ways as we work together to adopt new practices, discover new possibilities, and learn to see beyond our current capacities.
Our coaching sessions are about acknowledging all of the parts of you and learning to ask the questions related to where we go from here. We accept the shape you’re in, and examine how we might begin to alter that shape to better fit where you want to go.

Vs.Consulting
Our coaching sessions will not be consulting arrangements, either, as I do not intend to be yet another external provider of what you should be doing. I’m here merely to help you see that what “ought” to be will come from within, and what’s important to you will guide us in those discoveries.
If you are interested in mentoring or consulting based on my professional experience, please do inquire about that type of engagement.

Equity
It is my wish and intention to make coaching accessible for as many folks as possible, and am conscious that session fees may be financially out of reach for some who may need coaching most.

I would like to trust that those of us with ample means will pay our share, (and perhaps even sponsor another with less means), and those with less will pay lower rates.

I’ve borrowed the sliding scale structure of the Anti Oppression Resource & Training Alliance and I welcome you to self-select your rates with no questions asked.

Please let me know if you’d like to discuss.
